Hades boons of chaos8/4/2023 Okay, I run hangover on my best build (32 heat) so i'll try to break down how it works out. You can lean into scaling it, and it will remain relevant all run, as long as you're able to stack it sufficiently. The two hangover duos are both very good too. Ares is best when it compares favorably to %-based boons and to Zeus, so weapons that have poor natural DPS like the spear attack/special or shield special favor Doom, while a weapon like Aspect of Arthur wants a %-based boon even though it hits infrequently, and Rail basic attacks would prefer Zeus even though they don't have great DPS.Īlso, Merciful End is a thing, and generally that's best when you put Athena on both special (to get the duo boon offered) and dash (to proc it), and Merciful End is freaking nuts on fast weapons with good dash attacks, so consider that as well when you're taking Doom.ĭio legendary is freaking amazing and 100% makes hangover worthwhile, especially if you get Ice Wine with it. The thing you want to weigh is Ares vs other options. Ares adds the most damage with a weapon that will hit again as soon as Doom finishes, so it actually tends to do more damage with weapons that hit often. It's actually a bit of a fallacy that Ares wants you to hit with things that are used sparingly. hangover is definitely a niche, but they work well on certain things. i have won a bunch of drunken fist and hangover gun builds on various heat levels. I usually use one of the two to fill out my cast or call options if the weapon isn't very good at applying their effects.Īs far as hangover specifically is concerned, you usually want to go for the aphro duo boon if you are actually trying to use hangover. That said, both gods can run cast builds that are really good. dio attack is good on any weapon that can rapidly apply it, so admant rail, most spear aspects, and most gauntlet aspects.Īres is the inverse of dionysis rewarding things that are used sparingly. for instance, dio's special is really only good if you are using chiron or chaos sheild. Originally posted by ZexxCrine:not all boons are going to be equivalent for all aspects. (High damage, big AoE, stunning against unarmored enemies, good combo boons.long travel time, no homing, no Boiling Blood/Abyssal Blood benefit, bloodstones can't be recovered quickly even if you miss or the enemy dies.) His cast has several neat advantages, but also several disadvantages compared to other casts. If using hangover, Numbing Sensation is handy (hangover also reduces move speed). Premium Vintage can be circumstantially good (+max health per nectar). In terms of other Dionysus boons, I like Positive Outlook (damage reduction when below 40% health, which applies to more like 2/3 of your effective health bar due to the revive mechanics). If you replace that +100% attack with 20 hangover damage, you'd do the same damage without the global +50% bonus, but with the global bonus you're now dealing 60 damage (up from 50), because the global damage modifier will multiply with the hangover instead of adding to it.Īnd the Dionysus/Ares duo boon makes hangover better by nearly +50%, multiplying with all other bonuses. If your attack deals 20 base damage, then +100% attack from a boon and +50% global damage adds up to 50 damage (20 * (1 + 1 +. Hangover also benefits more than other boons from global damage multipliers due to the stacking rules. One run I got my drunken strike up to level 10 so it was dealing something like 14 damage/tick (104 damage per stack across its full duration). Most boons have sharply diminishing returns as you add more poms, but hangover never gains less than +1 damage/tick/level. Hangover also scales great with pomegranates. (Possibly attacking a different enemy in the meantime, or reloading.) So it works best with tactics where you duck in, hit a few times, and then dash away for a few seconds. So even the basic 4-damage hangover can add up to +32 damage per hit, which is better than +100% damage on most attacks, and better than +200% on several.īut since it only stacks up to 5 times, if you just sit there and pound away, you'll max it out pretty fast. The damage numbers might not look great, but you need to remember that each stack can deal that much damage up to 8 times (every 0.5 seconds for 4 seconds). If you use a fast-hitting weapon and get max damage out of each hangover stack, the damage is incredible.
